Youth Volunteering
There are many opportunities for youth between the ages of 8 and 18 to volunteer with us!
What to know:
-
Individuals must be 8 years or older to volunteer for Food Pack and Sort shifts and 12 years old for any distribution shift including mobile markets.
-
Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a chaperone aged 21 or older.
-
All youth will need a parent or guardian to complete a consent waiver prior to volunteering. This can be completed electronically IF the youth has an account with a valid email address or a paper waiver can be submitted at the time of the shift
-
All volunteers must have an account with a unique email in our system—for those under 16 without an email address or who are unable to use their school emails please use the following format to enter them into the system:
-
Enter their first and last name with no spaces and then the email @nifbvolunteer.org
-
For example: MickeyMouse@nifbvolunteer.org
-
Please reuse the same email each time you sign up the minor for a shift.
-

Online consent form for minors with their own email address:
-
When registering for an account in our system or signing on for the first time after April 21, 2023, all individuals will need to complete two waiver/consent forms online.
-
Individuals under the age of 18 will be prompted to enter the email address of a adult.
-
The adult will receive two emails--one for each form--with a link to sign the document.
-
Once the adult has signed the documents, the minor can log back in and complete their portion of the document.
Paper consent form for minors without their own email address:
-
For minors entered without their own email (see above), the volunteer and a parent or guardian must sign a paper waiver and bring it with them the day of the volunteer shift.
