What Volunteers Need to Know
When to arrive:
- Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled shift start time so you can check in with a Northern Illinois Food Bank team member and receive instructions
- Two Shift Times Available:
- Shift #1: 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM
- Shift #2: 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM
What will volunteers be doing:
- Volunteers are needed to help pass out Food Bank flyers, answer questions from convention visitors, and collect food donations at the end of the day. This will involve:
- passing out flyers to let people know that the collections are benefiting Northern Illinois Food Bank
- collecting food donations left behind at convention display stations
- asking for donations and collecting cash in Food Bank marked containers
- accepting credit card donations as needed
Age limit: Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age
Notes for volunteers:
- This opportunity is targeted toward extroverts and those who enjoy talking to people!
- Wear a Northern Illinois Food Bank t-shirt if you have one
- Be prepared to stand and walk around inside for the duration of the shift
