Volunteers will be packaging, sorting, and/or labeling
unprocessed product in a temperature controlled (50 degree) and sanitary
environment. Sanitation gear is required to be worn and will be provided.
Safety Guidelines
Volunteers must be at least 12 years old to volunteer for
this opportunity. If under the age of 16, volunteers must participate with a chaperone.
Volunteers must be able to stand for the entire shift and
lift up to 5 pounds.
No loose jewelry, open wounds, or sores are allowed.
Volunteers must not be sick while working in the protein room. All personal bags must be stored in a locker that is provided by the Food Bank or in the volunteer's personal vehicle prior to entering the protein room.
Volunteers should be comfortable around meat and other
protein products to participate in this volunteer opportunity.
Volunteers must wear fully enclosed (toes and heels) shoes
in order to participate in any volunteer shift. Volunteers not wearing proper
footwear will be sent home and must reschedule for another date.
